A borehole yield test aims to determine the maximum amount of water that can be pumped from the borehole and the amount of water that will be returned to the borehole from the surrounding groundwater source. Crysbol Consulting provides borehole yield testing services using an in-house borehole test rig that performs the work in accordance with the South African National Standard for Water Borehole Test Pumping (SANS 10299-4:2003). Our company is registered with the Borehole Water Association of Southern Africa and issues a borehole yield certificate upon completion of each borehole test.
The pumping test procedure comprised of calibration tests, step draw-down and constant discharge tests, including water level recovery measurements after each test.
Three to four step draw-down tests at increasing sequential pumping rates is conducted, each of 60 minutes’ duration. Constant discharge rate tests of 24 hours is conducted on the borehole with recovery measurements.
A groundwater sample is collected during the constant rate pumping phase. The samples is analysed for microbiology, inorganic and organic chemistry to determine the suitably of the groundwater for drinking and domestic use in line with the requirements of the South African National Standards (SANS) (2006).
